This is my main outlet where I post stuff about projects that I'm involved in. I'm mostly interested in desktop alert systems, in RSS manipulation techniques and in advanced blog search techniques. Some projects get so elaborate that I devote a separate blog to them.

Shooting the Stars

The guys at ActiveWord Systems Inc have done it again: they worked around the clock to get the webforum running in just a matter of one week. They used phpBB. Go have a look! It even does RSS. I'm impressed and very happy with the results.

Could we have an off-topic section too?

And a book recommendation section?

And a dating section?

And a ....

These new developments are stealing away my sleep and get me into a silly mode instead of making a professional impression.

Oh well. CHEERS!

Let's all meet on the new forum!

Did you see our suggestions on the ActiveWords Purchase page have already been adopted for the most part?
Now that's awesome!

ActiveWords Website Make-Over

What a job the people at ActiveWords Inc did. The new website is up and running. Truly AWesome, attractive to the eye and quite an achievement.
I checked out the ActiveWords News & Reviews page and found it lists some interesting articles in notable magazines.
The lively discussion on the ActiveWords Yahoo! Group these last few days tells me lots of ActiveWords users are spreading good thoughts about this brilliant utility and are also willing to help newcomers with tips and tricks. There is a boost both in the number of new list members (20% joined Q1 of 2004) and in the number of messages (from 16 messages in Feb 2004 to 100+ in the first 3 weeks of March 2004 alone). I remember being an ActiveWords newbie several years ago. My posts to the group and to ActiveWords Tech Support were always answered promptly and to the point. I remember I was very impressed with this speed and with the high quality of the answers. They encouraged me to keep using the software.

A categorized web forum would surely be an another enormous step forward, especially if an RSS plug-in were installed as well. The plug-in would allow off-line readers to subscribe to the forum as well and read the posts using their newsreader or e-mail client. I realize installation of a commercial web forum like vBulletin or an open source forum like phpBB takes careful preparation and requires knowledge of PHP and MySQL techniques. But being able to categorize and search posts is an important long-term benefit. A forum also allows you to quickly see which posts are still unanswered and which posts are frequently read.

Every day I spend quite some time making my ActiveWords scripting environment smoother and smoother. I'm working on several new ActiveWords agents and toolboxes. As a side effect I maintain a list of feature requests. Over time features come and features go. Maybe you have some wishes too. Wouldn't it be nice if we could discuss these in our little corner on the forum?

You probably have ideas about a web forum too. Let's hear them!
