  •  RSS Tool Vendors
Blog about RSS aggregators, feed generators and manipulators (mixers, filtering services, converters), OPML and about blog search engines. Home of the RSS Tool Vendor News browser.

  •  Google AJAX Search—Experimental Blog
I set up this TypePad blog in September 2006 to experiment with the then hardly announced Google AJAX Search API. Read how I conquered implementing this advanced technology on a TypePad blog, using Advanced Templates.

  •  CleverClogs
This is my main outlet where I post stuff about projects that I'm involved in. I'm mostly interested in desktop alert systems, in RSS manipulation techniques and in advanced blog search techniques. Some projects get so elaborate that I devote a separate blog to them.

Biography

You probably ended up here because you are curious what the AWesome blog is all about. The 30-second elevator pitch on AWesome is that it discusses tips, tricks and undocumented features of the software tool ActiveWords. More about ActiveWords in a moment.

I publish new posts on my blog AWesome when I'm inspired to do so, sometimes several times a day, sometimes one or two times in a fortnight. Most of the posts are illustrated with images.
If I write about ActiveWords scripts, I tend to gather these scripts in a wordbase and publish the wordbase in the Downloads section (under the Resources sidebar).
AWesome is a single-author blog and has existed since March 20th 2004.

ActiveWords
ActiveWords is a Windows productivity tool that allows you to link any word or phrase to websites, e-mail, programs documents, substitution texts etc. Those linked words or phrases may be either manually typed by you or selected in any text on your screen. ActiveWords turns your vocabulary into a command language.

How ActiveWords Impressed Me
I came across ActiveWords several years ago and used it on and off, especially to access password protected websites and to launch frequently used programs.
Since January 2004 I have been investing more time in ActiveWords because I started to realize its enormous potential. Especially the fact that any word or phrase - whether you type it or select it - can be a command is attracting me. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge here, on the ActiveWords Community Forums and sometimes also in private message exchanges (e-mail or IM). Though I suppose I know most of the intricacies about ActiveWords already, I still learn something new about the program or about a useful application for it almost every single day.
The best way to understand why I'm hooked on this tool is to download the trial version of the software and install my ShowCase wordbase. I encourage feedback.

Personal
Married, kids, dogs. Young at heart. Body is finally getting its workout. Read my infrequently updated blog Dutchisms for some personal stories. I hope you like them.

Bio? Outdated by the time my thoughts turn into electronic paper. We're moving from one exciting challenge to the next. Our biggest 'project' so far: our love flowing over so much that we gave the gift of life to our Californian friends Ann & Ed.
I gave birth to their son November 25th 2003.

Here's what Guy looks like around his second birthday (posted with parents' happy permission):
